This rare underground aquifer is classified as “pseudokarst”, and is created by the mechanical process of water carving through the sub-surface silt leaving a delicate lace-like filtration system. It runs all year ’round without freezing, and provides water to the residents of Turtle Valley, as well as feeding into the drainage of Chum Creek, which eventually finds its way to the South Thompson river.
